Mamavation Monday 6

This past week was just as bad as the previous one if not worse. My son had not only a viral infection but he had strep throat as well! And then my husband got it!! So I had the two of them to take care of while I was on the mend. Then to make matters worse I went to the dentist like some of you knew I had to do because of some pain in one tooth and turns out I need a root canal BUT first I have to get my wisdom tooth out that is next to it! (That wasn’t scheduled for a few more weeks) Well, the tooth was funky because one root was growing in one direction and the other went another way! It looked like the tooth was walking – no lie, LOL. And to add to that! The novacain wore off and I could feel the end of the procedure. Then he told me because it was such an odd extraction, to expect a lot of pain for a few days. It’s been HORRIBLE. My jaw is so so soooo sore and it is STILL bleeding.

And if all of that just isn’t enough? I gained back all the weight I had lost PLUS 2 additional pounds. Why? No exercise and eating garbage.


I pray this week is better, LOL. I’m ready to get going again. I’m tired of just sitting still! How are all of YOU?




Mamavation Monday 6

I am sad to say that this week hasn’t been any better than last week. This week the whole family got sick again. And what we thought was a cold for my son has turned out to be either a viral infection or chicken pox. We don’t know yet – the doctor said it was still too early to tell. But he is miserable. I do know that much.

So please do not get mad if I do not get back to you right away on twitter. Twitter takes so long to scroll through and right now my priority is getting kiddo feeling better and if there is time, for myself to get well soon too.

I love you guys! Thank you all for caring – means SO much. Hopefully I can get on twitter soon and talk with y’all.

Mamavation Monday 5

This week I have been pretty much absent. I have been on and off sick with stomach issues and mouth pains. It’s just been non-stop and no fun! Because of this, I have not been working out right. My eating has been alright but yesterday and today it suffered with all the testing of my baking for my sons birthday. He turns 5 today!! I also have a visit from my dear Aunt (COUGH) and so that isn’t helping either.

I won’t be attending Mamavation TV tonight because of it being my sons birthday as well and maybe going to my first PTA meeting.

I hope this week turns out better!!





Mamavation Monday 4

What a week! It has most definitely had its ups and its downs for sure. I think I will do this entry in two separate groups.

The Good: I have lost 3.8 lbs total – 2 of those pounds I lost this past week doing the #2weekchallenge. That simply feels AMAZING!

Also, my jeans which are a size 18 aren’t feeling so tight that it hurts anymore! They aren’t as loose as they were back in November, but it is a start!

The Bad: 3 days out of the week I overate a little and one of those days I had fast food. I know I can indulge every so often, but, 3 days in a week is unacceptable. I guess the stress of kiddo going to school plus planning his first big birthday party finally got to me. I’m disappointed in myself. I think I really need more accountability because that is when I do best. So from now on when I screw up, you guys will be hearing about it on twitter. I know then I have to be held accountable for my overeating.

The Promise: Today I am getting back on track and will be more strict with my calories. I also think a goal this week will be to find healthy ways to make my favorite indulgent foods as well.

Question: When was the last time you got new workout shoes?  What do you use them for?

The last time I got new workout shoes were back in June or July 2010. It was the most money I ever spent on sneakers, LOL! I used them for working out at the gym and doing couch to 5k – which I am starting back up again soon!

Mamavation Monday 3

This week has been a crazy one at best. On this Wednesday coming up, my son will be attending Kindergarten and going to school for the first time. I am an emotional eater so all week I have been fighting temptation to just pig out and eat how I’m feeling. However – I haven’t! This has been the FIRST week since November 2010 that I followed my calorie guidelines. It has felt AMAZING. I have found other ways to satisfy my chocolate cravings and how to deal with my nerves.

My big problem is working out. I do best when I have a set time to work out or when I’m at the gym. I plan on joining the gym around here shortly so that will help plus it will keep my mind busy when kiddo is in school. I do workout every day, but, it’s just not enough. So my goal for the week will be to work out for at least 30 minutes every day non-stop.

As for my Sunday weigh in, I have lost 1.2lbs this week for a grand total of 1.8lbs so far. It’s not a lot, but it’s a start!

It’s about to change pretty drastically! My son is starting school for the first time and I have no clue what will become of our schedule. I love our mornings of lounging around and talking about things that are important to him. Oh and we can’t forget morning snuggles! Now mornings are going to be rushed and after school will be dinner and bedtime mostly. I am so sad on all of the time I will be missing out on with him.

However, I will use my planner to stay organized. Without my planner I am completely lost! I may also start writing daily to-do lists that include a while he’s in school list and after school list just so I can time everything properly. I want to make sure all my errands are done while he’s in school so when he is home we can spend as much quality time as possible.

Mamavation Monday (just a TAD bit late)

What a week it has been! New York has had 3 earthquakes AND Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene. So in between all of that, losing power, being stuck home because of flooding, roads collapses and mudslides….this week has been horrible for weight loss and eating healthy.

To avoid losing all of our freezer food, we brought it all over to my Grandmothers home who rarely loses power because of living in a senior facility. I didn’t buy any fresh fruit or veggies because I was afraid they’d all go bad by the time our power came back on. So, we ate a whole bunch of garbage.

Sadly, I’ve gained back what I lost last week. I’m starting fresh tomorrow since I was able to finally leave the area and get some groceries. I also have plans to call the local gym about 15 minutes from here and inquire about getting a membership. Gyms really help me succeed – at least they did last time.

I am also thinking about applying for Mamavation Mom this campaign since it is couples. It would be great to be able to be kept accountable like that, help others with what I’ve gone through/going through and share in such an amazing journey with my husband.

I suppose that’s all for now. Hopefully I’ll have a better post shortly. xox!

Mamavation Monday

I just restarted my journey just a few days ago and I am so happy that I’m back. It’s been a rough 8ish months since I lost the baby. I’ve finally realized that by going back to my old habits, I’m just hurting myself even further and making it even harder for me to have a healthy pregnancy in the future. So it finally clicked this past week when I tried to put on a pair of jeans and they were so tight I could barely sit down in them. That right there was my wake up call and believe me when I say I woke up! The first two days I just ate right. It was rough and I definitely felt hungry still, which made the junk even more tempting. Then I began working out again and it felt oh so good! It was hard at first and I could only do a few minutes at a time, but I’m getting better. I know it’s going to take a while before I get back to where I was last November, but I am determined to get there.

One challenge I’ve had is finding foods that are low calorie but fill me up. I am often left still hungry. I also need to get some healthy snacks that satisfy my sweet tooth. I’ve been having 100 calorie packs and yes it quenches the craving, but it’s not all that good.

Onto the Mamavation bit. 🙂 I used to be part of the Mamavation Sistahood. My old Twitter handle was “266NeverAgain”. After I lost the baby, I lost grip on a few things and one of them was my health. I stepped away from the Sistahood to try and grieve, but, I just lost myself in a depression. I’ve tried getting back on track several times now, but, it hasn’t clicked until recently. So I would love to become a Sista again to be a part of the amazing group that helped me the first time. I want to be there to support other sistas in their journeys and help them however I can. The Mamavation Sistahood is such a great group of people that I would love to be a part of again.
